A Vacancy at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
As part of our ongoing commitment to address issues of diversity and inclusion within the field of Clinical Psychology, and as a part of our wider responsibility to address social inequalities in health, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust has successfully secured funding from NHS England to provide part-time, paid assistant psychologist experience totwo psychology graduatesfrom low-income backgrounds.
The scheme is intended to give opportunities to recent psychology graduates who are eager to develop initial clinical experience as aspiring Clinical Psychologists, who would otherwise be excluded from entering the profession through unpaid work experience. This scheme is specifically designed to provide valuable experience, insight and preparation for the next step, such as making an application for a substantive Assistant Psychologist post. In addition to the supervision provided by a Clinical Psychologist, the successful applicants will also avail of continuous professional development opportunities, reflective practice and peer mentoring.
It is important that you check that you meet the Eligibility Criteria outlined in the Job Description and Scheme Booklet, and follow the guidance included on pages 5-6 of the Scheme Booklet in completing the Supporting Statement in your application form.Applications that do not meet these criteria or supporting statements not written in the format given in the Scheme Booklet will not be short-listed.
The working duties of the recruited Assistant Psychologists will correspond with the generic job description attached, however, specific duties related to the allocated post will vary depending on the specific service the applicant is allocated to, as indicated in the descriptions in our Scheme Booklet.
Please bear in mind that we anticipate high numbers of applicants for this post and this vacancy is likely to close early. We strongly recommend submitting your application as soon as possible. Whilst such measures are necessary for ensuring that the recruitment process remains manageable and shortlisting can be completed in a fair and meaningful way, we do also understand that there are many reasons why applicants might require additional time to prepare their applications. The advert will remain open for a minimum of 48 hours to accommodate this. We also worked through local networks to circulate the role details widely in advance, with an indication of the likely timescales within which the post would be advertised, to provide additional time to prepare.
