Full Time, Permanent (37 hours per week)
Salary: Band 4 Agenda for Change. £29,116.00
- £31,670.00 per annum (on call and overtime when available) depending on experience plus basic Serco benefits.
The Joiner shall undertake works, under the guidance of Maintenance Officer where appropriate, on all aspects of building fabric repair, general maintenance for both planned and reactive maintenance. Work as part of a small team within the Estates Department based at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
Main Accountabilities:
- Carry out a range of joinery, building fabric, plant and equipment planned and reactive maintenance, repairs and minor new works tasks as instructed by the Estates Management.
- Undertakes planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on Fire Doors, Windows and all other aspects of Joinery work , working from training programmes, work procedures and operational manuals, recording and logging readings, carrying out basic adjustments and repairs with careful documentation and recording on service sheets and work orders.
- Work unsupervised where considered safe and appropriate and within their capability and training.
- Provide technical advice, assistance, and support to other Estates personnel.
- Use all relevant tools & equipment when carrying out specific tasks within their capability and training.
- Liaise with Estates Management regarding works to be carried out and report any deviation from the regulations, procedures or unsafe conditions to Estates Management and identify and request materials and/or services as necessary.
- Follow guidance as per procedures, work instructions and health and safety documentation.
- Work within the guidance of risk assessments and method statements.
- Assess risks associated with own day to day activities and report hazards.
- Operates within constraints of permit to work systems.
- Undertake other ad hoc duties as prescribed by Estates Management and within the scope of skill and capability. To work in accordance with the requirements of Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs),SHTM’s and other applicable legislation under the guidance of Estates Management.
- To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.
- Actively participate in the operation of the Computer Aided Facilities Management system (CAFM) by completion of paperwork for all work orders, service sheets and log books or electronic logger.
- Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management.
- Be prepared for recall to work in the event of major incident.
- Undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities at the request of the Maintenance Officer.
- To liaise with Maintenance Officer regarding plant or equipment failures and report observations,
- Follows guidance as laid down operation and maintenance manuals.
- Ensure that works are completed or communicated, even if it means working longer than the designated working hours.
- Ensuring that information regarding works not completed or works required are conveyed to other members of estates team.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role within a large complex service organisation.
- Recognised Joiner CITB/EITB Craft Apprenticeship
- Desirable City and Guilds S85 certificate or an Advanced Craft SVQ level 3 certificate in Carpentry Joiner.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately complete documentation and records
- IT skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a demanding environment.
- To attend training establishments as necessary.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade
